As a manufacturer in Sweden, a country without its own oil or gas fields but with large areas of forest, it was a natural step to start developing burners able to combust pulverised wood. This fuel is more environmentally friendly compared to fossil fuels, with no sulphur, less hydrocarbons and heavy metals, and chemically simpler exhaust gases.
During the last 15 years Petrokraft has participated in projects to convert traditional oil/gas burners into systems to combust renewable fuels like pulverised wood. Also industrial wood waste, olive pits and other bio mass fuels such as corn, cones, rape, olive pits etc have been used.
With our expertise for burning pulverised wood, coupled with know-how for designing storage and material handling equipment, means that Petrokraft are able to supply turnkey systems. In 2003 Petrokraft was made main contractor for Göteborg Energi when it built its 100 MW pulverised wood energy plant at Rya Värmecentral.
